In an interview with Punjabi Radio USA, Singh disputed reports that he was arrested on suspicion of DUI and said his own toxicology screening was negative.
Fresno City Council candidate Naindeep Singh said in an interview with Punjabi Radio USA that he was detained, not arrested, during a weekend traffic stop in Fresno’s Tower District.

According to Singh’s account on the broadcast, the stop happened Saturday night at about 11:00 after police told him he had expired tags. Singh said an officer first asked whether he had been drinking or using drugs. He said he denied both and agreed to take a breathalyzer test.
Singh said “nothing came up” on the breath test. He further alleged that after that, the officer shifted from asking about alcohol to accusing him of drug use.
During the interview, the hosts referenced reports circulating over the weekend that Singh had been arrested by Fresno police on suspicion of DUI and later released, with a toxicology report pending. Singh disputed that account, saying he was “never arrested” and was not taken to jail.
Singh also said he later went to an emergency room and underwent multiple tests, including a toxicology exam, which he said showed “absolutely no intoxicant” in his body. The broadcast also referred to a personal drug-screening toxicology report that it said came back entirely negative.

In the interview, Singh suggested police and media actions may have been influenced by politics, noting that he is running in the Fresno City Council election and openly criticizes developers in Fresno. He described the episode as possible “corruption,” but no independent evidence for that claim was provided in the supplied source.
Punjabi Radio USA’s interview took place as Singh sought to respond publicly to the allegations shortly before the election.
